A Black Swan event is "an outlier, as it lies outside he realm of regular expectations, because nothing in the past can convincingly point to its possibility. Second, it carries an extreme impact". There's a third that is not entirely relevant here (human nature being what it is, after the fact experts concoct explanations "making it explainable and predictable". which we are in fact seeing...).
