The reason - because it's the only decent time period in history that gold has beaten stocks. And if gold reverts to the mean, then it's very likely the next few years could be bad for gold.

You're right Skol, 20 years is too short a time frame. How 'bout this one from when Nixon ended the formal gold fixing (some time in 1971).
