When the Government was last involved in taking/controlling the peoples gold sometime in the early 70s they did not include gold you had "found" or "mined"
A friend of mine was in banking at that time and they had a massive influx of people putting nuggets into safety deposit boxes and nuggets were selling for greater than the listed gold price as it did not attract the government attention
