Here, (below) appears to be a strategy I have observed in the lithium sector that may have some similar characteristics on what you may be describing, (above).

The strategy appears to be –

Find the supplier,

Pay the supplier for the product with an inclining demand,

Encourage the supplier to re-invest in their own company with the money paid for the supply,

Once the supplier has done that,

Pull the carpet from underneath the supplier,

Starve the supplier of demand,

Buy the supplier out, cheap, cheap

That way the money originally paid to the supplier may be returned in assets,

Rather than be the client, become the owner/producer!

If possible, create a monopoly!

The objective may be seen as, "Control of supply"

All, cheap, cheap!
