@eztrang have you joined the outlandish unsubstantiated generalisation team? "fiat currencies are designed to decline in value over time. That is true and is in fact what most people want (excluding gold-bugs of course).
Eztrang, I would have thought that some of those people who are long gold don't care about currency debasement because they hedge it with a hard asset that they think will also increase in value? The fact is many people have different reasons for buying/trading/investing in gold via different methods of exposure, whether it be physical, stocks, ETF's / futures contracts. The fact that some are bullish in the short to medium term on gold does not make them a gold bug. Period. Nor does it mean they all have the same generalised opinions on why gold is a compelling trade or investment for them.
