@slange the people in control are becoming more controlling because of actual and imagined civil unrest - between the sweeping powers given to our police and the surveillance now able to be (actually is) implemented, the citizens of countries are now the enemy of the state, fined, beaten, killed without recourse even when doing nothing wrong, no illegal act - citizens' movements are being restricted. Assumptions are being made by many authorities that no citizen is capable of conduct or movement without a permit or oversight.
As is the way with civilisations/empires in decline, more liberties are taken, more conditions/regulations imposed.
I think it was Plato ? that said - the best societies are those where its citizens do what they do best and the leaders provide an infrastructure for that to happen and everyone minds their own business.
Not much of that going around nowadays.

Getting back toward 92c DXY - after the election will see USD fall and POG higher imho as realisation hits that FED still gotta print money for US gov spendfest needed to help the wave of permanently unemployed people that the Dems will support.
CV19 is nowhere near even starting - that expo growth is now at 10^3 from what it was in March. Should get a vaccine by Aug, i mean Oct, i mean Nov...We now seeing Europe facing running out of equipment/beds/staff even after the world ramped up facilities mid year on the first wave.
Very few countries have protected their medical workers sufficiently for an extended period of CV19 ie years and that in itself will cause problems if not addressed. These people need every protection available and every piece of equipment they ask for - still not happening.
Once the US elections are over the distraction will end and more people will turn their attention to what is happening economically and socially not only in the US, but globally - that is - contraction, layoffs, debt squeeze for many and certainly overall. Some businesses will still do well and the markets may still rise on stimulus but that would be due to a handful of stocks rising and outweighing the many smaller stocks falling. Gold stocks should continue to do well imho as they produce a product which is currently at record high prices which should be supported as gov's print their way out of this mess (or die trying).
So i expect fiat debasement and after a time, inflation to take hold and perhaps hyperinflation but not for a year at least - all takes time.
