The only one engaging in "simplistic" thinking is you.
None of the people in "covid wards" are witnesses as to *why* they are sick. Their opinions reflect nothing more than what doctors and journalists tell them. Whether or not they believe in the virus is irrelevant.
The *only* evidence you have is the tests. But the tests are ambiguous and non-binary and therefore 100% worthless.
