Seeing that the fireside chat generates such interest from our resident troll and homebuilder, here is another bit of useless information.
Directly relevant to inflation, supply disruptions and resultant run in the price of gold.

Was having a chat to a mate that owns a warehouse and rents it to a fastening supply company.
Apparently powder-coated roofing screws are in very short supply. You may have noticed prices have risen dramatically. I believe around 50%.
Local roofers have taken to spray painting the screws to match the colour of the roofing metal.
Be aware this paint job will not last long - a couple of years at most.
Part of the issue is a direct result of the artificial stimulus provided by the fed govt.

Stimulus and subsidies distort price discovery, normal market growth and practices. Need to cease and desist.
The thought of interest payments rising by 50% (little more than a 2% increase in mortgage rates) would have many home owners shitting bricks - then they can build their own home.
