    Gold is a long game played by Empires over decades.
    2 charts: LHS 1oz avg gold price since 1970 sub USD$100 to USD$1900; versus RHS inflation USD$1 now worth USD$7.

    Obviously 1oz gold has outperformed versus inflation over that period.
    There's no solution to the sovereign debt calculus that doesn't have gold & inflation as main variables.
