For the sake of consistency I am using the USd quoted gold price or else it is a battle of the best cherry picker. The discussion was long term investing since gold bug like to point to when gold was 250USD that expanded to USD1900.
I think I am going to refrain from any more discussion of whether passive stock investment in all form is better than physical gold. For both parties the 'meat' of their investments were not crystalised so they haven't made much cap gains. For stocks, it is the loyalty payments of dividends and floating gains. For physical it is floating gains minus withholding costs. People will decide which apple is sweeter.
We are currently experiencing inverse relationship, XAUUSD rallying XAUAUD dropping because AUDUSD is outperforming XAUUSD. That is all I care and I'll leave the academic discussions for the more astute in the financial world. I am just marking to market so who cares on what happen when I did not have exposure.
