And I wouldn't try to second guess what Trump or the CIA or the Generals will do or not do.
But let's look at a US unilateral re-rate of gold. Here's a what if. What if China has 2 or 3 times more gold than the US? I think I know which country that would favour. In any case it's an absurd notion because the last time the US did precisely that (1933) the effect was to devalue the USD. Do you really think Trump would want to alienate his constituency by making almost everything more expensive for them? I think not.
