globalism is - on balance - very good. only economically ignorant or uneducated people think it isnt - or those with an agenda furthered from angst driven power bases
it lowers risk of war, increases global prosperity and humanises the 'other'. globalism is a large part of why we dont call people chinks and towelheads anymore except for the idiot few

the US took in all the german scientists they could after WWII and they spurred one of the biggest periods of productivity and technical advancement the world has ever seen - rocket engines, 'safe' nuclear power, computing and a host of other advancements were made or refined with help of those same german scientists
the only reason bigots like Trump can get idiots to believe globalism is bad is because they dont understand economics.
if they did theyd realise for eg US has had surprisingly strong relative economic growth in past 20 years - despite blowing the world to kingdom come with their own debt explosion - but they didnt share that gdp equally and instead just gave most of it back to the rich 1%
its v v simple - if you cost $40/hour to make something and someone on other side of the world costs $8 - the job will go to them unless you can make something of more value
which is precisely what the US did - they chose, chose to focus on making higher value goods and services like Facebook and AI etc and deliberately outsourced to Vietnam, China, South Korea etc the job of making socks, low end cars
there's a reason Australia has been such a relatively successful economy and amazing standard of living despite having such a small population base and low level - because we got rid of nearly all the barriers to trade - opened up the economy so it can naturally self adjust to changing global economic flows - while keep a reasonably high level of social framework safety net to redistribute money from the haves to the have nots
christ it galls me to hear such stupid pap. its just the same old human disease of lashing out at things we dont understand and that are 'not us'
the reason we hear so much anti globalism rhetoric right now is because humans are greedy and current generations never faced the big generation-defining wars that prompted the creation of globalism in the first place
if trump or xi or putin manage to create another such conflict as they try to roll back globalism for tribalism - all those globalism naysayers will suddenly look back and go - oh - "so thats why all that stuff was set up. gee wish we had that back now"
still it is probably inevitable - humans are doomed to repeat what they dont understand
