I respect Mr Buffett however, I am not striving to amass $58billion in personal wealth - I'd much rather see that pay off some of their mountainous debt. I am happy with my lot and have been financially independent and retired for years.
The reason I like gold is because of the size to weight factor (makes perfect door stops) ... the colour (not too many metals are a pretty yellow) ... the artistry (some great designs) ... the hard to lose factor (easy to spot if you drop into the river) ... the mirror effect (I can easily comb my hair) ... the legal tender aspect (fill the car tank twice with a 1oz coin) ... oh, and I like the purchasing power slant (bugger the car tank - I'll exchange the 1oz coin for NZD$2,363). I'll stop here.
We are not all greedy buggers. BUT, if you were left holding Lehman, Bear Stearns (or Boeing? or Wells Fargo? or Bank of America?) shares....
