The Federal Reserve is an august body that was created for the purpose of preventing a series of catastrophic crashes which occurred in the 19th century, and so far it's doing pretty good. The alternative is a chaotic system where those with big money will run the financial institutions with little or no regulation.
I'm not clairvoyant, but the present system works pretty well, there's been posters like you here for years saying exactly the same thing, the sky is falling.
But it hasn't...has it?
I don't see any dramas on the horizon, and I've been through a few, the 1987 crash was one for instance. I could see that coming 12 months out and cashed out, but that's not to say a sudden unexpected event will turn up.
