So if the average gov official doesnt/hasnt seen any real change in lifestyle or living conditions over the last 6 months, you couldnt really blame them for thinking lockdowns are a piece of cake.

Those just using restaurants - any chance asking the chef how supplies are going?
Harvesting/collection is not just being affected in mining sector due to CV19 and other disruptions (think fires/floods/drought becoming a problem to food sources).
Inflation in many areas will be inevitable due to shortages. imho.
Discretionary spending is likely to contract further esp as JK and JS are cut back. into next year - we will see more layoffs from businesses and sectors that have tried to hang on but id say xmas/new year will be crunch time for many.
