There is an investment vehicle for every scenario, what is your reasoning behind gold not being a suitable choice? --------------------
There's lots of reasons, and if I thought gold was going to be a good bet, I'd get into it, but it isn't. But goldbugs listen to the hawkers, they post them here all the time, every day about how gold's going to blast off. I like to refute those very stupid prognostications.
Historically it's a lousy bet, but it does have intermittent periods of good returns, but they don't normally last long and recent charts will show that it's had a run and it's probably over.
I could spend the next hour here waffling on about why I wouldn't buy gold but I'm having a beer and there's other things to do, maybe some other time.
