To the benefit of all here, anyone posting arguments on an assumption that one asset class is superior to another is just simply plainly poor advice! Each asset class has its advantages and disadvantages and risk vs reward.
Any financial planner will tell you that asset classes have cycles, some do better than others at times but a good portfolio will include a mix of asset classes. Yes you may change the weight of each class from time to time in a portfolio to reflect the cycles and risk.
A number of asset classes should be used in a diversified portfolio to manage risk and return.
Now People who own some physical gold or hold equities are generally not a gold bug as some posters claim. This is childish behaviour st best. Someone who is including gold or gold equities are possibly just an astute investor diversifying a portfolio to manage risk and return.
Anyone spruking the benefits of one asset class from another with the assumption that people don't diversify is giving poor financial advice period! This applies to those that also say to be 100% in gold right now.
