he Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was officially established in July 1921 in China. A study group led by Peking University professors Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao discussed Marxism, which eventually led to the founding of the CCP. In 1923, Sun Yat-sen invited the CCP to form a United Front and join his Nationalist Party (GMD) in Canton for training under representatives of the Communist International, the Soviet Union’s international organization. The Soviet representatives reorganized both parties into Leninist parties, emphasizing democratic centralism. Despite challenges, including the White Terror unleashed by Chiang Kai-shek in 1927, the CCP grew rapidly during the Northern Expedition. Mao Zedong emerged as the leader, establishing rural bases and forming the Chinese Red Army. After the Second Sino-Japanese War, Mao led the CCP to victory in the Chinese Civil War (1945–1949), solidifying communism in China1.
Thus, it was China itself that introduced communism to its own soil.
