GC , a lot of what ur saying is true however public corporations have much to gain in terms of promotion of their science to potential partners by publishing ( if there accepted )in A+ or A rated journals . KC's reference to a lowly B grade journal doesn't do it for the scientific community IMO .
This all started when I was a securities dealer suggesting POH as a good spec . On many occasions clients with a scientific background would respond with " if the science is that good why hasn't it been published in one of the prestigeous journals" ? This comment has also come from two analysts . It appears that most of our fellow successful biotechs do get their science up in respected journals .
However I take ur point & perhaps the ideosyncratic academic world is difficult to explain in the context of this thread . I'l retire on this subject bruised but not beaten lol . Now the painfull wait for the focus group results !
