Getting bought out, to my thinking, is the goal and the best outcome for shareholders. But no long-term holder wants an opportunistic, low-ball bid now. Not that it would be accepted
People are in panic mode this week – and why wouldn't you be when the price has crashed about 60% from $9.70 in three months? Adding to that are the trolls who are always around during bad times. Sometimes they're being paid by companies who are shorting or want to buy at a lower price. But more often I think they're simply bitter people who have been burned by their previous losses (either in WEB or elsewhere) and just want to let out steam by kicking the company when it's easy to do so.
I read a post that said if the price goes south of $4, it's "game over". Did the poster mean that WEB would go broke and be delisted?
Jeez! Panic can travel halfway around the world while reason is still putting on its shoes.
WEB faced a truly dire situation in 2020, of the existential threat kind. The latest results are not life-threatening. I'm not sugar-coating the share price drop – it's terrible, and it will take a long time to get back to the recent highs. But be realistic.
A buy-out once the share price recovers would be great. I think it was one of the reasons WEB demerged. The OTA component was an anchor and increased the chances of a low bid. When WEB gets back on its feet, I think HotelBeds or Expedia remain logical suitors and a bid around $10-12 would get through. WJL will always struggle to get much higher, but I think it'd be a great fit for FLT – allows them to expand their operations and get a major online presence and systems without building it from scratch
