Just look at Sept 2011 to mid 2013 to see what the US$ price of gold does after a rally. Many of the European bullion banks were later indited for manipulation during this period; funny the US bullion banks were omitted although they are rumoured to have been in the midst of it. The central banks (particularly the Fed) would not wish the public to abandon fiat currency which they can print at will.
