A drop in the dow will affect US imports from china and therefore affect our resource exports to china. Since china mines a majority of their own minerals, it only stands to reason that they will lower their orders from oz and just use their own output.
I imagine our markets are reflecting the dow as a likely expectation of things to come, rather than how it is now.
