PERTH-based junior Frontier Resources has returned extraordinary widths of up to 366.4m at modest grades from the second and third holes at its Kodu copper-gold-molybdenum project in PNG, as part of a 10,000m resource delineation and expansion program.

Frontier managing director Peter McNeil examines drill core at the Kodu copper-gold-molybdenum project in PNG
Hole KFD002 and KFD003 were drilled from 4m and 6m, respectively and hit mineralisation over the entire length of the hole for intercepts of 366.4m grading 0.69% copper equivalent and 206m at 0.78% copper equivalent, based on current metals prices.
Gold and copper are both trading well above their long-term averages, with the Comex gold price closing at $US672.8 per ounce overnight and spot copper closing at $US5775 per tonne overnight on the London Metal Exchange.
Higher grades from within these holes included 72m at 1.09% copper equivalent (0.75% copper and 0.76 gram per tonne gold) and 72m grading 0.94% copper equivalent (0.66% copper and 0.7gpt gold).
These results bettered the previously returned figures from KFD001 of 86m grading 0.76% copper equivalent from surface and compare favourably to historic holes of 401m grading 0.76% copper equivalent from surface and 60m at 0.85% copper equivalent, managing director Peter McNeil said in a statement.
"There is very good continuity of mineralisation on this drill section and also with the previously known higher grade mineralisation, that is located 50m to the north in historic holes BND002 and BND004," he said.
"The consistent copper and gold assays in holes KFD001, 002 and 003 have extended and further confirmed this mineralised zone. The holes now being drilled to the northwest are designed to attempt to further increase the width of the known mineralisation."
PNGIndustryNews.net was unable to reach McNeil for further comment.
Kodu has an inferred resource of 507,000 tonnes of contained copper equivalent in 108 million tonnes grading 0.47% copper equivalent, or 0.33% copper, 0.42gpt gold, and 60 parts per million molybdenum.
Frontier shares were up 7.7% (1c) on the news at midday today to be trading at 14c.
