Corona virus has been around as long as we have and has been studied intensely since the SARs and MERs out breaks 20 years ago,the reason vaccine's take time is mostly the lack of money but this time money and new technology was used to fast forward the vaccine.
We are not going to be locked down in 22/23 as soon as we have a more vaccine coverage the lock downs will start to ease,if people don't get vaccinated when the economy opens up there will be covid outbreaks and un vaccinated people will catch it.

Australia has made a full and thorough assessment of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
