ABC - More interest in silica refinery

Tasmanian Treasurer Michael Aird says a second company is showing interest in establishing a silica refinery in the state's north-west.
Mr Aird travelled to Europe last year to meet representatives from a German company to discuss a $400,000 investment proposal.
At the time, the Treasurer said the project would create more than 400 jobs.
Speaking in Parliament, Mr Aird said he remains optimistic.
"That interest that was expressed by the European company is still alive," he said.
"However, I have since engaged in discussions with another proponent, who is also interested in developing a silica plant on the north-west coast."
