The facts are a bit hazy after 5 years, but I'm pretty sure there was never outright falsification. From memory, it was just an endless negative cashflow funded by a series of share offerings at lower and lower prices, which were accompanyed by glowing announcements of the deals being signed. All of which never materialised.
