I agree with what you are saying but if you bother to check out the banks in Singapore and Malaysia (as advised by my overseas friends) - the volatility is quite minimal. They were surprised to hear how badly we were affeted here. They also need to source funding from international markets - so their cost of funds would be high too.
I am not a trader - I have advised people I know to stay off the market because the market is crapped and I certainly do not want "novice" investors to think that all is clear. It is all about sentiments.
You need to dig out what is subprime is all about. Our market is not that sophisticated to originate subprime type of products. Our banks are way behind the international names.
