Moneycontrol Bureau Hyderabad-based Dr Reddy's Laboratories surpassed analysts' expectations with consolidated net profit growing 69.4 percent year-on-year to Rs 690.3 crore in three-month period ended September 2013. Revenues also grew 16.5 percent higher-than-expected to Rs 3,357.4 crore during second quarter from Rs 2,880.9 crore in a year ago period. According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, analysts on an average had expected the healthcare company to report net profit of Rs 498 crore on revenues of Rs 3,340 crore for the quarter. Operating profit increased 40.4 percent year-on-year to Rs 736 crore in the quarter gone by, missing analysts' forecast of Rs 781 crore. Segmental performance Revenues from North America grew 43 percent (surpassed analysts' expectations of 35 percent) year-on-year to Rs 1,320 crore in Q2, driven by new products launches, growth in existing products and ANDAs. Dr Reddys Labs launched four new products in the US and gained significant traction in market share of key existing products namely fondaparinux, omeprazole DR etc, during the quarter. The company filed four abbreviated new drug application (ANDAs) during second quarter. "Cumulatively, 62 ANDAs are pending for approval with the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) of which 39 are Para IVs and we believe 9 have First-to-File status," Dr Reddy's said in its release.
