Overall, 50,540 fewer international students were granted visas to study in Australia in 2009-10 compared with 2008-09. Is that the big hole that so desperately needs to be filled with the mining tax? Is the continued windfall, that was expectant, suddenly not there? And read this, ''The current and projected downturn in international student numbers is placing our economy, our education industry, and Australian jobs at risk.'' What Australian jobs are at risk here? Oh I get it, it's teachers jobs, and the like that are under pressure. Never mind that your average worker, who probably only earns $50,000 or less, would benefit more due to the lack of wage deflationary pressures normally caused by excessive numbers of workers. The other thing that is hated by the elite is that our companies loath paying Australians the wages that we are entitled to, hence they are hell bent on bringing here overseas workers, and hence we are losing manufacturing jobs to overseas. Ms Drakeford said that student security, accommodation and cost of living were all contributing factors in the drop. Cost of living hey? Well who would have thought!
