    Sure you can open a file between the differnt software.

    It is similar to saving a word MS office 2007.doc and then opening it in MS office 2003. Some of the templates/styles are not compatible.

    So for a finished document this can be an issue.

    Unless the latest (openoffice) download does over come that compatiblity problem.
