Simple, the army don't class a semi-auto as a assualt rifle. It's a semi-auto like a handgun. assualt weapons are fully automatic machine guns. Whinging about something AR-15 like that's shaped like a M-16, a gun that only law enforcement and civilians own. The army don't use AR-15's because it's not a assualt rifle. By your logic my legal semi auto handgun is some kind of assualt weapon, it shoots just as fast as some yanks AR.
