You know cgt2009 that is possibly one of the most insensitive posts I have ever read on Hot Copper and I have read a few. To advise Hotdat to go spend the rest of his money at the casino just takes the cake.

Hotdat invested in medical research. Everyone knows that Bio stocks are a huge gamble but if noone invested in them then, guess what, no research gets done. I certainly hope that it is not your wife or daughter who gets ovarian cancer and the medical profession only have the old antiquated methods they have had for years that do not cure but merely delay the inevitable with a lot of discomfort I might add.

Hotdat tried - and I can admire him for that - rather than those who sit back criticizing others and never doing a damn thing to help others. OK he lost a lot of money but he has the satisfaction that that money went to medical research (not the casino) and he should be proud. One possitive for him is that he has a lot of losses to claim against his tax and will recoup some of it at least that way.

My advice for Hotdat for what it is worth is this. Hold your head up high - we all have setbacks in life and although this is a huge one for you, all things pass and there are plenty of good times for you in the future. Money does not even come close to being the most important thing in life. One other thing - your wife is not there just to cook your food - she is your life partner and as such deserves to be included in all decisions that are made in the partnership.
