I think this is right, If you are a individual sole trader, in a partnership or the like you're eligible. If you're a company you're not. If you don't have self-funded super set up, (where you get different/added tax breaks). Individuals can recieve a 50% discount on capital gains after 12 months. Example :- wages/salery = $60,000 Capital gains from Investments = $50,000 50% CGT discount = $25,000 (if investment has been held for more then 12 months) Total taxable Income for the year will be :- $60,000 (wages) + $25,000 (Capital gains minus discount) = $85,000 (taxable Income) I'll now go back to familiar forums.
