Much of the economic damage to the Aus economy is due to our closed international borders. Yes it was a dodgy effort to keep demand high and our economy on a low growth trend. This was deliberate to allow for the steadily reducing consumption in the largest population sector as wages effectively plummeted and job security vanished... all thanks to Abbott's WorkChoices by stealth.
Watching Planet America last night they cited a US Republican pollie in 1948 commenting on the economy saying "all we need now is to reduce corporate taxes to boost business investment". It didn't work then and Morrison's identical plan now has damaged the economy.
@Furpo2... the rethink needed includes the entire illusory strategy.
