At current lithium chem prices, Kemerton on a 100% basis producing 50kt pa, the difference in gross profit between selling 50kt of chems or pumping out 750kt of spod is US$185 mill, in favor on chem sales. I believe that figure would be enough incentive to leave the spod in the ground and be converted later.
Note that ALB control the product marketing rights for the JV, and I'm pretty sure ALB would want to be commissioning Kemerton with chem prices at or above current levels. If they chose to dump 750kt of spod on market, that would put downward pressure chem prices, which is shortsighted IMO.
