America has obviously woken up to the concept of energy security, where you don't have to buy your ability to keep the country going from overseas i.e oil from the middle east and south america. The sun and wind are within your boarders and if you harness the energy you are not held hostage to another country's changing agenda. If you look at Europe the same thing applies as they are at the mercy of Russia for a great amount of there oil and gas supplies, it makes security sense to the country be able to produce as much energy within your borders as you can. Maybe thats why Australia is struggling with the concept.
