Registration numbers for cars in Germany:
In total, 332,962 brand new passenger cars (passenger cars) were registered in August 2019, almost equaling the prior-year level (-0.8%). Before we go into individual brands, a look at the types of drive of the newly registered vehicles. Gasoline engines accounted for 61.4% of new registrations, diesel 30.2 percent. Passenger cars with alternative drive systems accounted for 8.4 percent of total registrations.
Electric cars accounted for 5,001 registrations, or 1.6% of new registrations in August 2019. Compared to the same month last year, e-cars gained +103.5 percent more. Hybrid vehicles posted growth of +55.1 percent in registrations compared to the same month last year. In absolute terms, hybrid vehicles achieved 19,852 registrations and 6.3% new registrations.
The hybrids include the plug-in hybrids, which brought it to 3,120 new registrations and 1% of total new registrations. This corresponds to a decline of 9.1 percent compared to the same month last year. LNG vehicles (976 / 0.3%) even showed an increase of +183.7 percent. Natural gas vehicles (710 / 0.2%) posted a minus of -45.5 percent. In sum, therefore, a good 8.4 percent on new cars with alternative drive in August 2019.
For the German brands, double-digit growth was evident in Smart (+ 51.7%), Ford (+ 27.5%), Mercedes (+ 22.0%) and Mini (+ 11.8%). New registrations of Porsche (+7.3%) and Opel (+1.5%) were also positive, whereas VW (-17.1%), Audi (-10.5%) and BMW (-7.3%) ) up to double-digit declines. At 16.8 percent, VW still had the largest share of new registrations in the month under review, despite the losses.Most new vehicles were assigned to the SUVs. Their share was 22.2 percent (+11.1 percent), closely followed by the compact class, which recorded losses of 11.6 percent. This brought it to a new registration rate of 18.9 percent.

The numbers show that this can not be said of an EV hype, even if the numbers rise quite.Problems are simply the still too high price and the lack of charging infrastructure, which comes only slowly and does not really support the government.
Today, the IAA starts in Frankfurt and there are certainly some premieres, all ahead VW's ID3.
