What a mob of nutters. Its not native forest, the land has been zoned industrial for 20 years and was planted with pine while it wasn't being used for its intended purpose. That pine is ready for harvest and was going to be cut anyway in the next few years, Musk has come along and offered to plant 3 native trees for every pine he cuts, that's a huge win for the local environment but those peanut brains can't see that.

Now despite the forest being a pine monoculture some interesting critters have moved in so Tesla are carefully relocating the said critters to a new more suitable environment following all the local guidelines about nesting seasons and handling practices.

The protesters have also claimed that the Gigafactory will put an excessive demand on local water supplies, another load of codswallop. They are in a high rainfall area and the local authority has said that they could easily supply the water required however Tesla will catch all the water from its factory roof and paved areas and use that for the needs of the factory and its people.

I wonder if these protesters are sponsored by BMW and Benz in a last ditch effort to hold back the Tesla tide
