Not many TA`s pay much if any attention to long term momentum, most are focused on short term price (Investors included!)....bottoms and tops are never obvious from price alone..momentum is the gradual turning of underlying activity "trend"..its something which can be measured and seen separately from price...by the time its obvious from price alone the bottoms in and its already moved a few 100%.
long term indicators like moving average ribbons, weekly MACDs etc, its takes a lot of backing and filling (over months) for these aggregated indicators to change direction..in the case of weekly MACDS maybe only twice a year if were lucky... random example FMG v PLS at the moment...this will still be hard to see for most TAs let alone the non chartist. I think soon enough here as up trend developes PLS will start showing a different kind of price dynamic.  (bigger moves to the upside with smaller retraces)..lets see.
