Not brain washed (especially by SYD shock jocks) just aware of the new car market & what current sales are telling us : EV sales are 274 units YTD to July 2019 of 637,750 new passenger cars sold (or 0.05%). And remembering this is 10 years after the introduction of EVs. The consumer is currently voting with their feet & wallet, the numbers aren't growing anywhere near expected sales targets.
So forget having 100% of new car sales being EV anytime soon (or the US where EV sales are still only approx 1.5% pa).
As for sealing & leaving tanks in the ground good luck getting the EPA to agree to that...
Someone commented that Norway is a great example of EV conversion at 55% of new car sales, but their new car market is approx 20% of Australia at 18,000 pm, & their geography size 5% of ours, its perfect for an EV. Like most small European countries.
I don't have a problem with fixing the environment & the impact of fossil fuels, just don't tell me it will happen by 2030 or 40, without significant industry disruption or impact on the consumer, or that the EV will service the whole of the Australian passenger car market.
But all good food for thought. GLTH.
