It's because company's get too big, internal parts go off on their own tangents and build their silo's and ivory towers. Then the left doesn't know what the right is doing, they all pull in different directions and lose focus. It was interesting the discussion on why the car manufacturers don't buy into the raw material side, and someone hit the nail on the head - it's not their core business, better to focus where their expertise is - correct. What seems to be happening with Tianqi is they simply over extended with too many tentacles and the debt got them (much like AJM), and SQM is a political nightmare -government/local indigenous problems/sovereign risk. Both have bent camshafts and are throwing or about to throw some rods. All good for us as it will give us a competitive edge while they are in disarray.
PS. I am waiting for Tesla to come unstuck for some of the same reasons. You can't build an efficient and economic company trying to be' all-things'. Focus on the core where you do everything excellent.
