We don't have the economic power to play games with China but we do have a few aces up our sleeve. Chinas steel industry has hit a wall - they aren't taking our higher quality coal which means they will be making low quality steel at higher prices. Iron ore has a bit to do with that. The Chinese steel industry wants to talk to Australian iron ore miners about price. You can imagine the response. Spodumene is in the same boat they can try and get it from other sources but it will be poor quality and not in the volume they are looking for
