Why battery storage offers 'huge opportunity' for investors
Battery storage has emerged as one of the most compelling investment opportunities in energy infrastructure, according to Wilson Asset Management's portfolio manager Dania Zinurova.
The funds manager heads WAM’s alternative asset fund (WMA), which ended its first full month under management with Geoff Wilson’s investment services group in November, marking a new chapter for the former Blue Sky Alternative Access fund (BAF).
After running a ruler over the portfolio inherited from the previous manager in the middle of October, the Russian-born finance professional says she is confident of seeing the existing investments through to their planned exit.
The portfolio’s largest single exposure is tradeable water rights, which account for nearly a third of the total.
But private equity is the fund’s largest asset class, accounting for 42.5 per cent of allocated capital as at the end of June, and among the investments is the grid-scale battery storage developer esVolta.
