It would surprise us all as to how much power we actually waste! This is my home setup.4× 6v 220amp hour batteries set up as one 12v battery 440amp hours.My place operates as a normal home with all the mod cons(washing machine,freezer,tv,stereo,lights ect.I only have a 2.kw inverter but i buy energy efficient products and have learnt manage my system(no mains power on the island where i live and have been here 35 years)The lister generator is 9.5 kva and i run it for an hour a day in the winter(i like roasts when its cold) and that also chargers my batteries as sunshine hours a not quite enough to keep them charged(did i mention i like roasts in the winter).I only have about 700 watts solar and it works for me.I posted a pic of my local council carport some time ago as they use ev and the roof is made up of solar panels and it works for them.Solar panels now have a 25 year life expectancy and ive never seen one actually stop putting out power.People may have to change their mindsets to some degree but its doable.My system is an absolute minimum for a comfortable life but many new systems are now 48v and allow for a lot more use.Hope this helps
