Sure, there's development of other types, it may take decades though. Lithium ion technology was ready approximately two decades ago, and Elon took it aggressively for commercialization, and Tesla was under water until 2019-2020 mark, so not easy to get things done than just talk.
An alternative technology will be bumpy too.
Recycling the battery isn't something for fun, it's seriously critical to electrification, looking forward to it.
