Oh what a massive transition. Not just the grid, the human/community side of it needed to start yesterday. I could go on about it but a drive through these regions is the only way to get an understanding. An ABC 730 story won’t cut it. No wonder the previous mob didn’t tackle it and put it in the too hard basket. It won’t be as quick as we would like.

Most in the Teal/Green seats wouldn’t really understand. I in no way mean to be condescending. Changing an entire regions reason for being is no easy task. In QLD, we are talking about the life blood of the state and a large slice of national income. Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay, Bowen, Townsville, inland towns like Emerald, Moranbah and many more. Dalrymple Bay, Hay Point, Abbot Point, Gladstone ports. All the industry supporting these operations and servicing the communities. They are relatively well paid and lower incomes will likely result in a transition.

Anyway apologies for the rant but as much as we realise the change is happening and must happen, I feel for those who will be affected. I only wish that during and after the transition, the benefits and opportunities that a renewable future promises, comes to light for these communities.
