Because BC in Pilbaras wildest dreams they didn't expect SC6 prices to end up where they have resulting in what is fairly described as gushing cash. This is clearly evidenced in all their business case investment assumptions.
With all expansion plans funded and a whole lot left over for new opportunities there is only so much cash you can put to good use. Keep a really good chunk of powder dry for sure. Agree there is some uncertainty but how much do you need really?.....Using the current shenanigans as a means of getting some cheap shares off the register while we still can is definitely in the interests of LT shareholders and certainly not as shortsighted as having a billions in the bank doing nothing.
