The only difference between nuclear and coal or gas fired electricity is the heat source for producing steam to drive a turbine which in turn drives a generator. The ancillary equipment (control systems, instrumentation etc.) is vast and requires regular maintenance and replacement with spare parts from counties all over the world and the failure of one small part can render the whole sytem unusable. If we were faced with the situation you envisage I think it would be a whole lot easier to manufacture the minimal parts required to supply solar components than maintaing a nuclear plant.
