I had a Tesla Model Y test drive today. I may be easily pleased, but I thought it was awesome. Our town car currently is a C200 Merc.

Drove around Brissy for 30 minutes. Gunned it down a few quiet streets, then into the city and back to the valley. 94% when I started, 89% when I finished and I was heavy on the acceleration where I could. I think I touched the brake twice. My grandson kept saying, launch again.

It was very quiet, the finish looked ok at a glance. Maybe if I cast a closer eye I would find something.

I thought the touch screen was user friendly. With a bit of time, anyone with 46 could master it.

The sunroof, even though tinted, has a bit of heat. In northern Australia, that would be an issue. Solutions are an after market shade for $170 or extra tinting.

To fully charge at home would cost me $12.60 for the 63kWh pack. The standard version has the LFP. I'm fine with that. 455km range. I have solar but my export tariff is 44c to me so I would charge at night.

The Kia EV6 is next. I haven't had any luck arranging that so far. I would like the Jag, but those price tags, I have lived frugally most of my life and old habits die hard.

IMO, sales won't drop off in 2023. I think there is no going back after my experience today. So I think an order will be going in for something in the next 6 months. Maybe 5 years, a Rivian, F150 or like.

Cruising in South Pacific next week. Hopefully avoid the rona onboard.
