Firstly, the promising trials conducted by Calix were not at Lab level but using their BATMn reactor which is used for both Research applications as well as commercial calcination.
It is a bit of a monster and has many passersby thinking what is that thing.

Secondly, the proposed JV plant to be built at Pilgangoora ( subject to current scoping study finalisation ) will be a "demonstration" plant , not a pilot plant. It would have a production capacity of several thousand tonnes pa. Once proven, the plant could be cloned and operated in parallel matching demand.
